Spanish speakers: what's this called?

I took a Spanish class back in high school. My teacher was from Peru. He was talking about the bride and groom. He went from the bride and groom all the way down to: a person you go out on a date with ONE time. He told us the word for it, but I've forgotten it.

What's the word for somebody you go out on a date with one time?

Is there a word for somebody you're merely dating (that person is not your boyfriend or girlfriend, no commitment, but you're merely dating)?

Thanks

What shall i say when my sister-in-law gets me a bad present?

both my sister-in-laws are bitches. when i came back from holiday i got a 18ct gold ring with a diamond in it, and she got me a pencil case from peru. which is frankly an insult.
my birthday is coming up and i know she's gonna get me something insulting again, so i thought i should say a snide remark of some sort.
What shall i say? if you think i shouldn't tell me what i can do? (btw my mum wont let me get them something bad...something about our reputation?)

I have really difficult problems... sexually speaking.?

I'm a 16 years old boy, I'm bisexual and I'm not sexually active yet. I'm having lots of issues I hope you can help me solve. I'm from Peru, but it seems easier to find an answer in a US section.

I have never had a real relationship with no one or sex but I'm only interested in being active. The problem is that I'm really skinny, an not muscular; like many bisexual stereotypes.

Another problem is that I want to have sex for the first time and can't decide which gender to go first. I wouldn't have no problems finding someone, because I'm atractive enough.

You think it couldn't be worse but I haven't had sex before because I'm really REALLY shy in order to intimate with someone but I'm oldfashioned and don't want to have sex with someone I don't love.

I can't have a normal relationship because I have lots of secrets I can't share them with someone I barely know and I can't wait anymore, because my f*cking body (full with hormones) it's demanding it right now.

I don't want to have a chat with a psychologist again. I only can find a way to solve my problems (or at least one of them). Maybe I would have sex with some stranger and forget all the crap about love, but that doesn't feel right. Another solution might be sexual abstinence, but I think that would be really odd (A bisexual with sexual abstinence) and think that might be impossible.

¡Please! I'm really trying to solve this puzzle. If it's confusing for you, it's worse for me. And sorry for all the spelling mistakes.

I AM WRITING MY TESTIMONY. ANY SUGGESIONS ON A TITLE?

I am writing my Christian testimony. I was delivered from depression and addictions when I was saved. I was delivered from religious activity and for the first time in my life I had a relationship with Jesus. After salvation I ministered to government officials in Peru and Nicaragua. I spent several years in missions. My testimony is about the dramatic change in my life and the tremendous love of God. Much of the book deals with daily experiences in my life that the Lord has used to teach and mature me.

he used to be my friend and then i got sick of him, at first i could handle it but yea. it gets annoying now. he takes everything for granted and doesnt even thank you. hes a freeloader as well.. always tryin to get shit without contributing. it only got annoying because he did it so much, and still til this day does it.

anywho, we both go to community college, im a year older, i warned his lazy ass to get a car the moment he graduated, and now he still doesnt have a car. he looks to me and my brother to take him to and back from school when we go and get off. hes spending money on other shit, like going on vacation to peru. (wtf for right?) and i think its annoying. i dont even wanna see him anymore. i feel like hes using us, and i want him to get a taste of what reality is.

oh and yes, he works.

so yea, this is how it is right now, he waits for me to get out of class and wants me to drive him home. should i? because i dont want to, even though hes my neighbor. there might be some other stuff missing in detail but yea, i got lazy, so what is your opinion on this matter? people using you because it is convenient for their life.

what graduate program for engineer should i be looking at?

Hello, in 1.5 years i graduate with a ba in industrial engineer in Peru.
I have just realized that i.e is more administrative/business and not so much engineering. I like science and building stuff.

I think the best option is to go for a graduate program in a different field of engineering.

i want to know which engineering program can let me expand my knowledge of chemistry and physics to a point that i have a more advanced understanding stuff of my surroundings, while also let me use that knowledge to design practical stuff.

i was thinking chemical engineering.

can you guys please make suggestions so i can start researching more about them?

thanks

Ive had this for a long time, I remember I found it in my moms old stuff when I was like 13 and I just found it again in my old stuff. I have no clue what it is, my mom said it was a letter opener but I tried opening letters with it and it didn't work out so good. All I know is that "cusco" Is in Peru. It also looks like it goes on a necklace or something and the bottom where its rounded off looks like it use to be sharp.

Pytanie #25:

Why are many, but not all, conservatives so hostile towards educators and formal education?

I hear how educators are all Marxist, gay activists, lazy, get paid too much, get too much time off....I don't understand this.

Let's see, I have two BAs and am getting a second MA and have taught high school ----number of Marxist teachers I have met, well, if there were any, they did a good job of hiding it b/c everyone I knew taught his subject matter as I did without stopping math class to preach the wonders of Stalin.

Teachers are paid too much??????? They are. I got 1,800 after taxes my first year teaching high school with a master's degree ----that might be a lot to someone in Peru, but not in America! Also, many men don't go into the profession b/c it's hard to support a family as a teacher. True, some districts do pay well, but you often have to spend many, many years to get to that level.

Teachers have too much time off? No, most teachers I know have to do a summer job just to get by. Sure, some do take off for the whole summer, but if you taught 30-40 teenagers every day you would need significant time to decompress.

Teaching is easy??????? It is????? Have you tried to discipline and keep under control 30-40 adolescents? No, it's not easy, plus you have hours of grading, prep work, conferences with parents, meetings to attend, higher education to pursue in order to keep your license, office hours, events to co-ordinate, volunteer work, after-school clubs.

I don't known, I find most of the teacher bashers to be rather ignorant. Sure, there are lazy, bad teachers with extremist viewpoints, but I hardly think that they are the norm.
Pick up a copy of "Godless" by Ann Coulter and you will read her rant about the excessive time off, the overpaid teachers....listen to some of the posters here who rant about how teachers only teach how to put condoms on cucumbers.
Er, I taught in the public school system in America and have gone to two public universities in this country. As for my grammar, sorry for not proofreading this, but I don't think that there are any instances of "your" for "you're," "should of" for "should have," confusion between "less" and "fewer," or lack of a subjunctive when needed, "If I was," instead of "If I were...." No, not coming across too many flagrant solecisms here.
Nope, Arizona, where I was on a 4/5 contract in 2007-2008. I should have mentioned the contract b/c I was teaching four, instead of the standard five, classes. Another class would have had me between 2 and 3 thousand. Check out pay schedule for first-year teachers in Arizona -----also, we're one of the least-educated states in the Union, ranking along with Mississippi and Nevada.

Am I part black. no, right?

Okay
Dad's side is from El Salvador - & I assume their ancestor are from Italy, since our last name is named after a town in Italy & we are light-skinned

I am personally light-skinned, dark hair, dark eyes, & some freckles

My mom's side is from Peru
Their ancestors come from the Incas (the native Americans) & from Europe (Austria, I think)
But somewhere before that, I have great-great grandparents who are African (African descent, black skin, black features & everything) - They went to Peru, and that's how my family line started

Should I just consider myself fully Hispanic?

Is there any organization that offers college scholarships to outstanding students in academics and sports?

Hello everyone! I am a 17 year-old student from Lima, Peru. Throughout my career, I've maintained great grades at school apart from being a very good and a 100% dedicated basketball player. Honestly, I am not the best neither at basketball nor at school(I am the second best student), but it has really cost me a lot of effort to keep the high grades and play basketball in a good level. Even though I am not tall enough; my dream is too reach the NBA and play professional basketball. I know I will not reach my dream if do not get a scholarship in the US, because there I would improve my skills and become way better. In Peru there is not much interest in the game of basketball so it is impossible for any Peruvian basketball player to reach any other league.

Thanks a lot for your time, if any of you know some scholarship organization that could help me, I will appreciate it very much. Good bye!

Did i pick the wrong engineering? Should i study a second undergraduate?

Right now i am studying Industrial engineering in Peru and i graduate in about 1.5 years. i will be 21 years old. My passion are the natural sciences. As a in I.E i don't feel that i know all physics and chemistry that i want and i when i work i don't think i will apply any of that knowledge. I am a shy and not very social and i am really not cut out for management (witch IMO is what an i.e does)
Since my goal would be to live in a first world country such as United States, i was thinking of starting from scratch and studying Chemical engineering or something.

I was also thinking on enrolling into a graduate program that is different from I.E but i don't know if that is possible since i did my undergraduate in Peru.

I am a really good student and i will probably be amongst the best of my class when i graduate.

I don't know what you engineers think. I need some sort of orientation

thanks

EDIT: Kate Moss. I wonder where did you get that. Visit us and see for yourself. You'll see maids in uniforms all over. The little children have nannies, too.
I think mothers in the USA go through a lot, not their fault, of course. They do housework BESIDES working outside!

Poem.. Does it makes sense to you? How can I improve?

Momentum

Overwhelmed and undesired
Waiting on something to take me higher
The one that I want, probably a player
Still the same page, searching for another layer
Close to tears more often today
I hate my job, it doesn't pay
For all the sh*t that I endure
I need inspiration and a definite cure
A razor blade to slash my childhood off
Cut it from myself, tell it to get lost
A chemical peel for the pain in my mind
So calm and peace I can finally find
My future is blurred and I'm scared to death
So tired of trying, I just want to rest
Want to feel loved, cared for and warm
I don't know how, is it in a man's form?
Maybe I'll find it in Peru or New York
It's definitely not at the end of my fork
The pieces of life of which I constantly dream
So far apart, far away, impossibilities they seem
Losing direction, momentum, vision
So close to making another incision...
Yeah I really hate writing rhyme-y poem...I honestly think they sound cheesy but it seems like that's what most people do these days... I'll see what I can come up with..or maybe just post a different one.
Overwhelmed and undesired
A bottle of pick-me-up in hand
Its silken courage slips through my lips
This is when we met, I fell, eyes blurred
This is what makes me wonder
Does he really want Me or just a plaything?
He fogs up my bloodshot dreams
Forcing my mind into a state of confused bliss
Taking priority, my goals seem so far
My work, my home, my affection
So much distance, seeming impossibilities
If that weren't enough, my past keeps returning
Pausing briefly in my vision, intruding on my life
Another dose of self-medication
If I swallow enough, I can be happy
Enough not to contort my flesh
With yet another rust-stained blade..

Hmm...just a quick revision...any better?
Umm...I'm not a beginner. I've been writing for over 8 years...ouch.

My horse has mysterious brandings?

I have an 18 hand 8 year old horse that was imported into the U.S. from Peru in 2008. They sold him to me as a holsteiner, some of his papers say so, but others, like his USEF registration is under a 10 year old thoroughbred. We know the previous owner had many horses and made mistakes with her accounts. I don't know anything about horses in Peru or how theyre bred etc. He was/is a great jumper, thats why his previous owner bought him and apparently spent a lot on him. However, my horse has a strange, large patch of missing hair where horses are typically branded; on his left hip. Also, he has a "9" on one side of his tail, and a "1" on the other side. I know he was not born in 1991 he has been checked by several dentists and vets confirming hes 8 years old. I was wondering if anyone could give me any information about horses imported from Peru and what his strange brandings could mean. I'll leave links to pictures of his brands. Thanks so much to anyone that helps!
